Practitioners of the ancient art of feng shui believe that mother of pearl symbolizes good luck and prosperity, meaning that it has the power to attract wealth to the person wearing it. This is why nacre jewelry is given as good luck tokens. Think of it as a pearly rabbit's foot!
Occasionally, we purchase findings from small companies here in the United States. This was one of those wonderful finds - a cast component with a shape that inspired us to do a number of pieces. This necklace was inspired by one of those pieces - pattern reminded me of a hug and kisses sign - "X and O" - written in a sweetly curving script. The center piece of this necklace is an 10 mm Mother of Pearl Cabochon that has been set in a beautiful gallery wire setting. It is flanked by two creamy white cultured pearls measuring 5 mm each. The necklace is created from cast sterling silver component pieces and sterling silver chain that has been finished with a sterling lobster claw clasp.
The sterling silver jewelry shown in my store has been antiqued, and then re-polished in order to better show the detail, but can also be created with a bright, mirror finish if you prefer. I am happy to create this necklace for you in any length you need. Please let me know if you have any questions!
